GI Joe Customs and Reviews

Hasbro’s 30th Joe line is a highly successful reboot of the original Joes, updated with superior articulation and detailing. Unfortunately, some may come as too generic when it comes to accessories, especially pistols, that fit unto the molded holsters.

So! I grabbed a slew of pistols from diverse toy lines and did a comparison of which fits. Most did not fit, however, so only those that fit (with some barely!) are pictured below.

From left to right, top to bottom:
BBi Sig + light
Mezco Glock
Hasbro HK
Hasbro Beretta

BBi 1911 + light
Hasbro 1911
Destro’s .38
BBi 1911 + light
Hasbro 1911
BBi Glock
Hasbro Desert Eagle

Marauder Beretta
Marauder Sig
Marauder Python
Snowjob’s .38
Marauder 1911
Marauder USP
Marauder Luger

Test Subject: 30th Snake Eyes’ right drop down holster. Should be the same as 30th Stalker.

Closer look at the holster:

First up: Marauder Sig
Not a bad fit…

Next is Destro’s .38

…then Marauder’s Python.
Nope, revolvers look out of place, especially beside the suppressor

Hasbro’s HK is a tad oversized but not too bad…

Marauder’s Luger. Fits, obviously, but it’s not a pistol associated with modern use.

BBi 1911 + light is a good match only because BBi’s scale is a bit smaller.

Marauder’s 1911 fits ok. Highly recommend to do some painting to make it look modern, though.

Last is Hasbro’s Beretta.
It’ll do but Berettas aren’t used often, nowadays, with newer designs available.

Just a quick one.

I arrived early at a meeting and had time to dash to the local Toy Store.

By chance, I picked up a rare Wraith at SRP ($7.60).

By some weird circumstance, I was offered a chance to go through undisplayed inventory and scored 3 x Pit Commandos, 2 x Stormshadow unmasked, and a Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes with Timber.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra

Being the OCD Information Security Privacy head Honcho, I had to run equally fast to the nearest office supply shop to get one manila envelope that fits all these to make it look like crime scene evidence to pass physical security checks and avoid those weird looks.

Mission Accomplished!

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra toys have finally been released at Retail!

…and I do not mean the special expensive retail shops ;)

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra

I have made it a habit to take pictures of Joe store displays at retail as, sooner or later, some evil munny-grabbing Terry the Toy Terror Taliban will use his mummy’s ill-gotten blood munny to hoard these…

Snake Eyes Continue Mission

It is my first week at work and I spent the whole week learning the administrative ropes. The orientation may be boring but it gave me the perfect opportunity to work on my idea of a whole team of custom troopers. I am already down to the individual members’ real names and background so I am extremely excited with this project.

I mean, imagine a trooper whose codename is “Nut” ?

;D

You can guess how I will be spending my twice daily coffee breaks.  Creative writing or sniffing paint.

Fortunately, I have been reading volumes of anecdotes more than enough to fill out filecards for a whole team.

Now, on another note.

If Airwave had not told me, I would not have known at all.

Snake Eyes: Year One, a.k.a. Snake Eyes : Continue Mission, was featured at www.theterrordrome.com and is a candidate for Custom of the Week!

Thanks to www.theterrordrome.com for the opportunity!

Snake Eyes Continue Mission

This custom of mine is of Snake Eyes just minutes after his helo accident which left him deformed and unable to speak. Despite these injuries, Snake Eyes insisted to Charlie Mike: Continue Mission.

25th Anniversary Snake Eyes Greenshirt

During the early missions and long before wielding a katana, the greenshirt now known as Snake Eyes was injured rescuing Scarlet from a crashed helo which damaged his vocal chords, rendering him unable to speak, and scarred his face.

Despite these injuries, he scribbled “CM”. Continue Mission.

When I first started collecting the 25th Anniversary GI Joe line, I did not pay much attention to the Ninjas. I used to have the complete Ninja Force, back then, and I believed I had my fill of it

However, I ended up with the Snake Eyes vs Red Ninja set due to unscrupulous joy bidders so I opened it up, anyway. It was really something else!

25th Anniversary Red Ninja Snake Eyes in training

My fascination with the Ninjas from the 25th Anniversary GI Joe line just grew. I even bought the Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow in training Comic Packs and regretted selling my second Snake Eyes vs Red Ninja pack.

I never thought they would be so photogenic and I will be taking more snaps. The Red Ninjas from the set are even better than the single carded Red Ninjas as they have the Arashikage tattoo and lacked the Cobra sigil.

This really makes it a pure Ninja experience.

I am even contemplating getting a third Snake Eyes versus Red Ninja pack and another  Snake Eyes in training Comic Pack so I can properly customize a better Hard Master.

That is it. I am now hooked.

I should be getting the Hall of Fame Storm Shadow while I am at it…

It was a pleasant surprise that the Comic Pack with Snake Eyes in Training garb and The Hard Master in…Lifeline uniform came out. It came with a lot of Ninja accessories enough to reenact that fateful night that set events in motion. Eventually, Storm Shadow joined Cobra to find the killer and Snake Eyes became a Ninja.

25th Anniversary GI Joe Hard Master WIP

Out of the blue came a loud continuous ruckus at the front gates, at six in the morning, no less. It was my long awaited delivery. Doc has been rescued. Finally!

Doc

How can one miss the words “G.I. Joe Doc” on the lower left?
